Canadian Citizen or PR
Full-Time Student

Key Requirements
Write a statement of 150 - 300 words indicating:
a. Your goals and aspirations
b. How this scholarship will help you to achieve those goals
c. Why you should be considered for this scholarship
d. Your volunteer activities and community service involvement
Written Essay of 500 words minimum on the 2026 topic:
“If I Could Make a Difference: My Vision for Helping Jamaica Recover After Hurricane Melissa”
Provide details of your volunteer activities and community service involvement.

About the Scholarship

One of the objectives of the Jamaican Canadian Cultural Association of BC (JCCABC) is to provide practical and tangible support to address the diverse social needs of our members and the community.

In anticipation of these needs, JCCABC is pleased to support youth (16–30) educational pursuits of our members, volunteers, and individuals in our community.

Each year, the JCCABC awards a scholarship to eligible individuals residing in British Columbia who are pursuing higher education at a tertiary institution or certified Trade School.

Applications are open from March to June 30th of each year, after which the committee reviews and makes final recommendations on the awardees.

The Scholarship recipients are announced, and the awards are issued during our Independence Celebrations in August.

  • Resident of British Columbia (minimum 12 months)
  • Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Enrolled full-time in a certified post-secondary institution

  • Personal Statement
  • Volunteer / Community Service
  • Essay 500 words minimum
  • Interview (shortlisted candidates)

  1. Applications close June 30 annually
  2. Ensure eligibility before applying
  3. Incomplete applications will not be considered
  4. Recipients must attend the Independence Ceremony
  5. Recipients agree to media publication
  6. Applications must be submitted online
